May 6, 1915 - West Bend Journal - Word was received here last evening of the death of John Geishecker, a well known and prominent old settler, who lived on his farm three miles northeast of St. Joseph. Old age and infirmity was the cause of his death.

Mr. Geishecker was born March 28th, 1840 in Monreal, near Meyen, Koblenz, Germany. He served in the German army from 1860 to 1863 and later one year in the war of 1866 with Austria and also a year in the war of 1870 with France. He came to the United states in 1874 locating in Keokuk, Ia. He was married in 1875 to Miss Elizabeth Kohlhaas. To them six children were born of which two died in infancy and Casper Geishecker died in 1902 as many of the friends will remember. The family moved to Kossuth county in 1879, where they have since lived.

Those remaining are his wife, Henry Geishecker, Mrs. Justina Plathe, and John Geishecker, all living on their farms in this immediate vicinity.

Mr. Geishecker as a man, was one that was always highly spoken of by all who knew him. He was an honest, hard working, prosperous, and a well to do farmer. He was kind to every one and always highly esteemed by all his neighbors. He has a large list of friends here who will deeply regret his loss.
