July 24, 1958 - Kossuth County Advance - Funeral services have been set for Friday at 9 a.m. for John Frideres, 78 year old retired farmer, who died early Wednesday morning at St. Ann hospital after a two-week illness. Rites will be at the St. Joseph Catholic church at St. Joe with Father Schumacher officiating. Burial will also be at St. Joe with Hamilton's handling the arrangements.

Mr. Frideres was born March 21, 1880 in Luxemburg, the son of Mr. and. Mrs. Mathias Frideres, and came to the St. Joe area in 1892 when a boy of 12. He farmed for many years in the area. He was married to Kate Faber on June 4, 1908 at St. Joe, and she preceded him in death in 1950.

Four sons and a daughter survive. They are Victor, Algona; Leo, Algona; Norbert, St. Joe; Herlinda, Mrs. Lawrence Kirsch, Whittemore; and Matt, Algona. Two children preceded him in death. Serving as pallbearers will be Orville Wagner, Sylvester Wagner, William Thilges, Joseph Faber, Charles Plathe, and Edward Thilges.
