Jan 27, 1916 - Algona Courier - Mrs. Matt Frideres of St. Joe died on Friday, Jan. 14, of pneumonia in the 75th year of her age. She was a native of Luxemburg, Europe, born in 1840. She was married in that country in 1877 to Matt Frideres, and the couple came to America in 1892 and settled in St. Joe where they resided to the end, and by intelligent industry they prospered well, established a fine home and gave their children good starts in life.

Mr. Frideres died about a year and a half ago. Their children are John, Nick and Mrs. Peter N. Thilges. The burial took place on Monday following the death, the services being held in the St. Joe church. In the death of Mrs. Frideres a good woman, wife and mother passed away, and St. Joe lost one of its good and faithful members.
