Dec 4, 1914 - Bode Bugle - John Erpelding died at his home near St Joe, last Monday, Nov. 8th, 1914, at the age of 81 years, old age being the cause of death. He had been in his usual good health two weeks ago.
Deceased was born in Luxemborg. He was married to Annie Funk and came with his wife and two children to this country in 1867, settling not far from the St. Joe farm on which he has made his home ever since. Five children were born to them: Peter, Annie, (Mrs. John Altman), Michael, Mrs. Matt Bormann, deceased, and Lizzie, (Mrs. Reding.)
Peter runs the home place, Michael and Mrs. Altman, reside in Livermore, and Mrs. Reding at Whittemore. Mr. Erpelding's wife died in 1883 and was buried at St. Joe. Mr Erpelding was one of the best known men in the vicinity of St Joe, and has always been respected as a good citizen, and was an industrious, prosperous farmer. The funeral services were held at St. Joseph this morning, being conducted by Father Ruemmele, and were very largely attended. Livermore Gazette
