Feb 11, 1971 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Hilda S. Devine, 67 year old St. Joe housewife, died Monday at St. Ann Hospital, she was a lifelong St. Joe area resident. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at St. Joe with the Rev. William B. Devine officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, the Hamilton-Wilson Funeral Home of Algona in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were nephews: Ernest M. Gales and John N. Gales, Livermore; Raymond Gales, jr. and James Gales, Ft. Dodge; James Devine of Quimby and James Devine of Corwith.

Hilda Gales was born May 8, 1903 at St. Joe, daughter of Nicholas and Theresa Klein Gales. She was married to William B. Devine on August 20, 1929 at St. Joe.

Surviving besides her husband is one son, the Rev. William B. Devine of Sutherland. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Ernest Gales, St. Joe; Raymond Gales of Livermore; Mary, Mrs. Edward Zeimet, and Miss Margaret Gales both of Los Angeles.
