Jan 12, 1900 - Algona Courier - Mr. Joseph Decker died last Sunday morning at the residence of Schmit Bros., with whom he had been staying for the last month. Mr. Decker had all preparations made to go back to Germany, but he again became suddenly sick on Christmas eve. Dr Livingston of Bode was called who, when arrived, found that Mr. Decker was beyond physical help. It is said that he was a consumptive for some time and of late his liver became very purulent which caused his death.

His breathing became always more difficult and on Saturday he became unconscious, and on Sunday morning at 4 o'clock his heart ceased to beat.

Deceased was 20 years old. He was born in the village Heiderscheit in Luxemburg and came to this country four years ago. On Monday morning at 10 o'clock his remains were laid in the St. Joe cemetery to rest.

Deceased leaves a brother, Nic Decker, here with whom we sincerely sympathize.
