June 27, 1929 - Kossuth County Advance - At the home of his brother Frank, three miles east and a mile and a half south of Algona, last Thursday took place the death of Jacob Capesius, after an illness of five weeks. Funeral services were conducted at St. Cecilia's church Saturday morning by Father Davern, and burial was in the St Joe cemetery.

Five years ago Mr Capesius suffered a minor stroke which affected his hand. Five weeks ago a second stroke came, and on June 14 he suffered another and fatal stroke which caused his death a week later.

Born June 26, 1859, Mr. Capesius would have been 70 years old had he lived a week longer. His birthplace was in Jackson county, Iowa, but many years ago the family came to Kossuth and settled in Garfield township. At death Jacob owned the old home quarter-section farm. Jacob's father, Nick Capesius, died 25 years ago. With his mother Jacob remained on the farm till ten years ago, when they moved to Algona. Since his mother's death four years ago, he had lived at his brother Frank's.

Five brothers and three sisters survive: Mrs. Philip Dieter, near Burt; Peter, Ottoson; John, Algona; Edw. of the Livermore Farmers Savings bank; Frank; Mrs. Charles Haas, Rock Valley; and Mrs. J P Miller, Fort Ripley, Minn. All the brothers attended the funeral, and Mr. Haas, whose wife was ill, was also here.
