Page 1John Goodman Funeral Held Here Tuesday
John C. Goodman, 75, retired carpenter who resided in Algona for the past 39 years, died at his home Saturday following a six week illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Goodman were held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) in St. Cecelia's Catholic church with Fr. J. R. Goodman, Tama, brother of the deceased, celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass. Deacon was Msgr. P. P. Gearen, sub-deacon Fr. Robert Joynt and master of ceremonies, Fr. James McAlphin. Burial was at Calvary cemetery and Hamilton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Fred Hagg, Leo Lichter, Henry Seiler, Adrian Casler, Joe Morgen and Leo Heinen.
John Clement Goodman, son of Joseph C. and Adaline Pfuntz Goodman, was born at State Center, April 11, 1889. He married Cordula Banscher Jan 9, 1917, at Roselle and she survives.Other survivors include a daughter, Dorothy, Spencer; three sons, Raymond, John and Wayne, Algona; two sisters, Mrs. Julie Pille, Marshalltown, and Sister M. Adalaid, Dubuque; and three brothers, Vincent, Mason City, Fr. J. R. Goodman, Tama, and Arthur, McCallsburg.
One son preceded him in death.
