The body was brought to Kossuth County, Iowa for burial at LuVerne, where there was a short service at the graveside conducted by the Rev. Mr. Riggs of Wesley. The Steven family formerly lived at Sexton and women of the Methodist church there served supper to the mourners on return from the cemetery, and before they returned to their homes.
Lloyd was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Steven of Algona. He was born on a farm near Kanawha on May 26, 1906. His parents moved to a farm near LuVerne when he was three years old. Except for 12 years in Minnesota he lived his entire life in this vicinity. He attended grade schools and one year in the Algona high school but had to quit high school because of an accident to his father which made Lloyd’s help on the farm necessary.
Mrs. Steven is the former Dorothy Wise of Sexton. She and Lloyd were married in the Methodist church in Sexton on June 29, 1929. They were parents of four children, Harvey Duane, 15, Neil Lloyd, 13, Betty Ann, 12, and Loren Lee,7, who with the mother survive. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Steven, brothers Leo and Everett of Sexton and a sister Mrs. Everet Hodgin of Callender.
A brother Wilbur was killed in combat in the South Pacific in World War II, and a sister Wilma is also deceased.
