Biography reproduced from page 337 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

G. F. Kahl, who resides on section 23, Ledyard township, where he owns one hundred and fifty-four acres of land, which he devotes to general farming, is a native of Iowa, his birth having occurred in the vicinity of Wilton, Muscatine county, on the 28th of February, 1864. He subsequently removed to Illinois with his parents, who later located in Jasper county, this state, going from there to Hardin county, where our subject completed his schooling.

Mr. Kahl was reared on a farm and while still attending school became familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the agriculturist by assisting his father with the tilling of the fields and care of the crops. In March, 1900, he came to Kossuth county, first locating in Springfield township. Later he bought his present farm, formerly the property of O. C. Monsen, and here he has ever since engaged in general farming, in connection with which he makes a specialty of feeding and raising hogs for the market, and is meeting with fair success in both lines. Mr. Kahl’s farm is located a mile and a quarter northwest of Germania. During the period of his ownership he has remodeled the house and made various other improvements which have enhanced the appearance and value of the property, making it one of the most attractive farms in the community.

Mr. Kahl married Miss Mattie Vieth, a native of Missouri, and they have one son, Clarence, who is assisting his father with the cultivation of the farm; and an adopted daughter, Grace, whose surname was formerly Paulies.

The family attend the Methodist Episcopal church, and fraternally Mr. Kahl is a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, Yeomen and Homesteaders. In politics he is a republican, as was also his father, and is now serving his second term as trustee of Ledyard township. He is a stockholder of the Farmers Elevator Company and the Farmers Cooperative Creamery Company of Germania, and is numbered among the representative agriculturists of his community.
