Biography reproduced from page 133 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

Harm Jutting devotes his energies to general agricultural pursuits in Lincoln township, where he owns one hundred and twenty acres of highly improved land. He was born in Hardin county, five miles south of the present site of Ackley, on the 9th of August, 1863, and is a son of Wessel and Gereitga (Kruse) Jutting. The parents were born, reared and married in Germany, whence they emigrated to the United States in 1862, coming direct to Iowa. They first settled in Hardin county, going from there to Butler county, whence they removed a few years later to Grundy county. They made their home at Ackley for a time and there the father passed away on the 24th of July, 1892. The mother, who is still living, now resides with her sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Jutting were the parents of five children, as follows: Lena, who died on the way from Cedar Falls, this state, to Ackley; Uffe, who is also deceased; Hilla, the wife of D. F. de Bore, of Altamond, South Dakota; Harm, our subject; and Wessel, who is also deceased.

Harm Jutting has passed his entire life in Iowa. He was reared at home and educated in the common schools, his activities being early directed along agricultural lines. By the time he had attained his maturity he was a skilled agriculturist, thoroughly familiar with the practical methods of tilling the fields and caring for the crops. He remained at home until after the death of his father, when he began farming for himself in Grundy county. He continued to reside there until 1896, when he came to Kossuth county and purchased one hundred and twenty acres of land on section 25, Lincoln township. During the sixteen years of his ownership he has made extensive improvements in this place, including the planting of trees and erection of the buildings. Unabating energy intelligently applied and directed has brought the usual results, and Mr. Jutting is annually realizing a good income from both is farming and stock-raising interests.

Mr. Jutting was married in 1895 to Miss Meldena Veitor, who was born in Germany and in her girlhood came to the United States with her mother. Seven children have been born of this marriage, as follows: Maggie, Jacob, Johanna, Wessel, Herma, who died at the age of eighteen days; Harmena Gasena, who died at the age of three years, three months and five days; and Hilla. The family belong to the German Reformed church at Buffalo Center. Mr. Jutting is held in favorable regard in his community, as he possesses good principles and conducts his transactions in an honorable and upright manner.
