Need help finding birth place of my biological grandfather

I am in search of my biological grandfather, Raymond C. Estes. Born 11 Jul 1920 and died 22 Feb 1968 in ILL. I researched the Social Security Death Index and found him and his number being issued in Iowa. His tombstone in IL shows PFC SVCCO 346 Infantry Rect. WWII. That's all I have. A gentleman emailed me telling me he found him in this county in the 1930 census Jackson Twp. Keokuk County has a family with a 10 year old Raymond. Father is George, age 55, brothers, Loyal age 16 and Donald, 14. No wife, but George's mother Sarah, age 73 is living with family. All born in Iowa.

Is anyone related to this line that could help me out. Does anyone know about WWII records for this Infantry? Any help in finding more out about this family would be greatly appreciated!!
