SIGOURNEY--Mrs. Vera Belle Ray, 81, died Sunday a.m. at her home in Sigourney.

Born Sept. 30, 1888 in Sigourney, she was the daughter of Silas B. and Mary Ellen Martin White. She attended Sigourney schools and the University of Northern Iowa, and taught two years in Cedar Falls, and worked for the telephone company several years.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church by the Rev. Harold Butts. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Chapel in charge.

She was married Nov. 29, 1911 in Sigourney to Warren O. Ray, who died in 1956.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the WSCS, was past Oracle of Royal Neighbors Lodge, charter member of Audobon Garden Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Relief Corps.

Survivors include a son, Warren O. Ray, Jr. Richland; eight grandchildren, and a brother Raymond White of New Orleans, Louisiana.
