Fedale Schultheiss, 92, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1984, at his home in Sigourney. He was born March 21, 1892, in Engelweiss, Germany, to John and Josephine Fischer Schultheiss. He married Edna Utterback on Feb. 20, 1917, in Delta; she died March 22, 1964. He married Gladys Conner Hahn on Feb. 19, 1967, in Washington. He took tinning and plumbing training in Germany, and came to the United States at the age of 16. He lived and farmed west of Hayesville with the Bert Fischer family, and was naturalized in 1919. He then farmed west of Sigourney for 50 years, and moved to Sigourney in 1971. He was active in woodworking and specialized in inlaid wood clocks and decorative brackets. He was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church, and was a Sunday School teacher and elder for several years. He also was a member of the Keokuk County Historical Society. Surviving are his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Johanna Boyer of Columbus Junction; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna; one daughter, Myrtle Pence; a sister, Johanna Steinhart, and two brothers, Steven and Gustave. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sigourney Christian Church, with the Revs. George Mullins and Donald Dye officiating. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery in Delta. The Holm Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
