Ruth M. Welch, 88, of Milton, formerly of Fairfield, died at 11a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 1991, at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Pool officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to Milton First Responders and the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Welch was born Jan. 29, 1903, at What Cheer, the daughter of George W. and Mary Anna Riffel Schauff, and grew up in What Cheer. She was a member of the Christian Church at Competine, was a homemaker and a cook at Kiger Cafe in Fairfield. She married Forrest Raymond Welch on May 6, 1920, at Batavia. He died July 27, 1965.
Surviving are five daughters, Lorena M. Davisson of Milton, Marjorie Mardock of Pharr, Texas, Elise Oates of Bagley, Wis., Twyla Tush of Coffeyville, Kan., Anna Gladfelder of Colona, Ill.; a son, Raymond of Davenport; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Four sisters, two grandchildren and a great grandson preceded her in death.
