Chester H. Vail, 80, of Sigourney, died Sat., April 27, 1996, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

He was born Aug. 27, 1915, near What Cheer to Elmer and Louise Kitzman Vail. He married Colleen Dawson on Oct. 11, 1938, in Kirksville, Mo. He attended a country school and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. He farmed all his life and was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Larry, Danny and Darrell Vail; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harvey Vail.

Services were held April 29, at 2 p.m. at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney, the Rev. Burris Wilson officiating. Burial was in Garrett Cemetery in Delta.
