Henrietta Ann "Hanky" Greene Vittetoe, 73, died Feb. 5, 2002, at her daughter's home in La Jolla, Calif.
She was born May 24, 1928, in Hayesville, the daughter of Henry "Hank" William and Margaret Elizabeth (Chase) Wilkening. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1945. On July 5, 1948, she married Joseph Michael Greene in Sigourney. He died Dec. 6. 1974. She married James Vittetoe on May 24, 1979 in Sigourney. He died Jan. 19, 1995. She owned Greene Oil in Sigourney. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, Sigourney Golf and Country Club, the Birthday Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a former leader of the Stick-To-ft 4-H Club.
She is survived by eight daughter, Susan Barnett, Janet Stichter, Mary Mejaes, Rebecca Scheer, Linda Rutgard, Amy Greene, Carol Greene and Twyla Dalhstrom; four sons, Mike, Pat, Tom and Jack; two step-children, John Vittetoe and Sandy Veldhuizen; two brothers, John and Leslie Wilkening; two sisters, Bess Hollingsworth and Belva Hollingsworth; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchidlren.
She was preceded in death-by her husbands; her parents; and a grandson, Sailor Joe Greene.
Funeral services were held Sun. Feb. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney with the Rev. Philip Ryan and Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
