J. W. Scott, 70, of Sigourney died Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
He was born March 19, 1925, in Sigourney to Sherly and Grace Snakenberg Scott.
He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1943. He served in the U. S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon leaving the Service, he farmed Southeast of Sigourney with his father.
In 1955, he was elected as Keokuk County Auditor and served in that position for 22 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sigourney, the Lions Club, Odd Fellows for almost 50 years, American Legion VFW, D.A.V. and the 11th Armored Division Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Treva Flanegin.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. Danny Lemons officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
