Bernadine D. Seip, 76, of Sigourney died Feb. 12, 2000 at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney.

She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Sigourney to John and Marvel Thatcher Cassens. She married Harrison "Bud" L. Seip in Kirksville, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1951.

She was graduated from Sigourney High School in 1941. She worked as a secretary for Wagner and Yoder Law Firm and for several other law firms, retiring in 1987. Following retirement, she volunteered her time as a first-grade teacher's aide at Sigourney Elementary School. She served on the Keokuk County Arts Board, Main Street Board and Keokuk County Bank Travel Club.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Russell; a daughter, Kandy McGuire; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Scott.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, Vince Homan officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
