Marcena Ruth Leathers 73, of Delta, died of cancer, Fri., Mar. 22, 1996, in her daughter's home in Cedar Rapids.

She was born April 16, 1922, to Carl and Edith Knowler Tanner in Keokuk County. She attended South Honey Grove School and graduated from Delta High School. She married Clarence Leathers on June 6 1939, at Lancaster, Mo., and they farmed southeast of Delta. He died on Aug. 29, 1969. She worked at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney for 25 years, retiring in Dec. 1995. She lived in Keokuk County all of her life. She was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church, the UMW and the Delta Ruritans.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Weeks; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Edith Tanner; and a sister, Martha Jean Lisk.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

Services were held Mar. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Delta United Methodist Church, the Rev. Vincent Homan officiaing. Burial was in Garrett Cemetery in Delta.
