Bruce L. Clingan, 39, of What Cheer died Thurs., Sept. 3, 1998 near Sigourney at the home of his father.

He was born Feb. 25, 1959 in Sigourney, the son of Wilmer L. and Donna M. Andeway Clingan. He was raised and educated in rural What Cheer and attended school at Tri-County and Monroe. He married Connie Burtlow on May 19, 1979 in Newton. A Monroe resident for several years, he was employed by the Vermeer Corporation of Pella as a welder, robotic technician and troubleshooter. He had moved to the What Cheer area in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his father Wilmer; his mother, Donna Clingan; a son, Gerad and a daughter, Courtney Clingan; and three brothers, Steven, David and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Services were held Sept. 7 at Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with the Rev. John DeBoef of the Hilltop Chapel officiating. Burial at Doggett Cemetery near Sigourney.
