Levi Linden Bower, 91, of Sigourney, died Oct. 26, 1999.

He was born June 28, 1908 near South English, the son of Everett and Elfie Wren Higgins Bower. He graduated from South English High School in 1926. He married Ila Murial Gosney on Oct. 10, 1934 at her family home in Ottumwa. He farmed near South English. They moved to Sigourney in 1957. He worked at Neece Lumberyard and Fagen Elevator. He managed the Sigourney Home Oil from 1962 to 1978. He helped and worked at the Sigourney Senior Center for many years. He was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church and taught adult Sunday School class for a few years.

He is survived by his children, Lynn Bower, Louella Bower, Albert Bower and Nancy Bower; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Bower and Muriel Kampmeier.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 24, 1978; his parents; a great-grandson; three brothers, Leland, Carl and Lewis Bower; and two sisters, Edna Reinier and Dorothy Bower.

Funeral services were held Oct. 29 at Sigourney Christian Church with Frances Baumert and the Rev. Paul Davidson officiating. Burial was in Sorden Cemetery in Webster.
