Wayne Woodrow Beall, 84, died Sept. 12, 1997 at the Greenleaf Retirement Center.

Wayne Beall was born Nov. 27. 1912 at Sigourney, to Thomas and Elma Beall. He grew up in Sigourney and attended school there graduating from Sigourney High School in 1930. He then attended Iowa Success Business School at Ottumwa. In 1932, he married Marjorie Pence. The couple made their home in Washington. D.C. from 1935-1937 where he worked for the U.S. Post Office. In 1937 they moved to Montour, where he worked as a rural mail carrier. In 1941 the family moved to Somers where he continued working as a rural mail carrier until 1956 when he began working for Iowa, Illinois Gas & Electric. In 1968 they moved back to Washington D.C. where he worked for the U.S. Post Office and then the District of Columbia Department of Corrections until retiring in 1980. After his retirement they moved to Fort Dodge where they have made their home since. He was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Trinity United United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist 60-Plus Group. He also served several years on the Salvation Army Advisory Board in Fort Dodge.

Survivors include wife, Marjorie; sons, Stanley and Daryl; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald and Walter and sister, Alberta Vander Hamm.

He was preceded in death by sons, Jerry and Michael; parents, and sisters, Frieda Utterback and Gladys Beall.

Services were Mon., Sept. 15, 10 a.m, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melvin Ammon officiating. Burial was at the Garrett Cemetery, Delta.
