James Hale, 71, of Bella Vista, Ark., and formerly of Sigourney, died Fri., Dec. 17, 1999, at his home from Cancer.

He was born Feb. 9, 1928 in Sigourney to Leslie Hale and Alta Yahnke Hale. He was a graduate of Sigourney High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and farmed in Sigourney until 1985 when he and his wife moved to Bella Vista. He worked for 14 years at Wal-Mart Warehouse #8, where he was a custodian. He enjoyed going to garage sales, and was a member of the Judson American Baptist Church of Bella Vista.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Hale; four sons, Lee E., Bruce E., Donald E. and Todd E.; a sister, Mildred Noller; and six grandchildren.

A memorial reception was held Dec. 20 at Stockdale Funeral Services in Bentonville, Ark. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
