Keith Bryant, 70, of Sigourney died Monday, December 21, 1992, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born November 3, 1922 in Sigourney, the son of Jack Sr. and Minnie Bryant. He married Cleo Shannon on June 19, 1950.

He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1940. He was a member of the 1942 graduating class of the Radio Department of Engineering in Iowa City and was inducted into the U.S. Army in June 1943.

He was stationed in England as a staff sergeant with the Eighth Army Air Force and flew 23 missions as a radio operator of a B-17 crew. He was awarded the Presidential Citation as well as an Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and a Battle Ribbon with three stars.

He served as Deputy Sheriff in the Keokuk County Sheriffs Department for 36 years from November 1949 until his retirement in November 1985, serving under Sheriffs Bud Wallerich, Gary Deitrich and Ron George.

He is survived by his wife Cleo; three sons, Michael, Thomas and his wife Joy and Daniel and his wife Stacia; a sister, Marilynn Andresen; and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Jr.; a sister, Mildred; and an infant daughter Margaret Lou.

Arrangements are pending at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney.
