Leslie L. Glandon, 64, of Hayesville died at his home Wed. June 17, 1992.

He was born October 4, 1927 in Delta to Albert and Fern Osborn Glandon. He attended Delta schools until enlisting in the Merchant Marines. Later he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and retired in 1966 as Chief Petty Officer after 21 years of service. He was married to Betty Burtlow and they were the parents of three children. On May 6, 1958 he married JoAnne Townsend at Long Beach, Calif. He and his wife, JoAnne moved to Hayesville in 1968. He worked for Bill Mertz, Ed Webb and for the Hayesville Lumber Company. He belonged to the Ottumwa branch of the Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife. JoAnne; three children from his first marriage, Michael, Leslie and Judy; five sons. John Massengill, James Massengill, David Glandon, Donald Glandon and Daniel Glandon; two daughters, Janis Chapman and Jody Glandon; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Glandon; and three sisters, Myrtle Baird, Maxine Lathrop and Mildred Courtney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Marjorie.

Graveside services were held Thursday, June 18 at 8:00 a.m. at Pennington Cemetery at Sigourney with the Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Military rites were by Harry L. Anderson American Legion Post No. 34 of Oskaloosa. Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney was in charge of arrangements.
