Arthur Edmond Prall, 90, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, September 23, 1992, at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born Sept. 17, 1902 at Atlantic, the son of Thaddeus Edmond and Elsie Worth Prall. He attended Atlantic High School until his junior year when his parents moved to Minnesota. They later moved back to Atlantic, where Arthur started selling shoes. He moved to Washington, Iowa, in 1928 and worked in Moore's Bootery. He married Mary Crossett Oct. 11, 1930 in Washington. In 1947, they moved to Sigourney and purchased the S & S Shoe Store with Marty Schroeder, retiring in 1968. His lifelong hobby was raising and showing Cornish Bantams; he was the first person inducted into the Hall of Fame by the International Cornish Bantam Breeders Association in 1991. He had served as its president for 20 years. He was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, past president of the Sigourney Area Chamber of Commerce and member of the Sigourney Golf Club.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Jack; a brother, Clyde; 5 sisters, Mrs. Earl (Ada) Hensley, Mrs. Merlin (Valera) Mayberry and Mrs. E.T. (Bernice) Hupp, Mrs. Earl (Betty) Winterstein and Mrs. Paul (Lucille) Grant.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Leo and William; 3 sisters, Florence Kinersley, Mabel in infancy and Lorene Beebe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, the Rev. Danny Lemons officiating. Burial will be in West Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
