Cleo G. Wood, 85 of Martinsburg, died Feb. 8, 1983 at the Sigourney Care Center. She had been a resident there since 1980.

She was born July 30, 1897, southeast of Sigourney, the daughter of Nick and Nannie Hein Gross.

She was a housewife and worked as a switchboard telephone operator in Martinsburg for 11 years.

She was married to Ned Wood November 12, 1919, at Oskaloosa.

She was a member of the United Methodist church of Martinsburg and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband, Ned; a son, Loren; and two grandsons.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister.

Services were held Feb. 10 at the Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. Melvin Reth officiating.

Burial was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sigourney.
