Floyd M. Waechter, 66, of rural Sigourney died May 17 at Ottumwa hospital.

He was born January 16, 1918 at Clear Creek in Keokuk county to Frank and Juliana Weber Waechter. He was married to Viola Neal, April 22, 1944, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, by the Rev. D. F. DeCoursey at Keswick. He spent his life farming in the Sigourney area. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic church in Sigourney.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Elizabeth Whelan; three sons, David, Marvin and Ronald; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Francis, Walter and Bernard; and three sisters, Theola Lyle, Leona Hotchkiss and Erma Flander.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Donald Floyd and Kenneth Loren.

Services were May 21 at the St. Mary Catholic church with the Rev. James McAleer of St. Elizabeth Catholic church in Harper and the Rev. David Childers of the Nazarene church in Pella officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
