Charley Tygart, 95, of Hayesville died Feb. 28, 1983 at the Keokuk County hospital.

He was born Dec. 12, 1887 at Springfield in Keokuk County to Joseph Hiram and Sarah Lippard Tygart. He attended country schools. He farmed near Hayesville and retired to Hayesville in 1960.

He married Lulu Melcum Feb. 14, 1917 at the Christian church parsonage in Sigourney and she preceded him in death Apr. 2, 1975. He was also preceded in death by a great grandson, two brothers, Jess and Tom and three sisters, Rilla Ruby, Rose Heninger and Lily Ramey.

He is survived by two sons, Raymond and Leonard; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. Dora Wiseman.

Services were March 1 at Holm Funeral home with the Rev. Raymond D. Moore, pastor of the United Methodist church, officiating. Burial was at Pennington cemetery.
