John J. Tremmel, 63, died May 28, 1985 at the Keokuk County Hospital. He had been hospitalized in Sigourney and Iowa City since Nov. 9, 1984.

He was born in Sigourney August. 29, 1921 the son of Earl and Orpha Davis Tremmel. He graduated from Sigourney high school and served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, being stationed in Germany for 13 months.

He was married to Marie Chacey April 27, 1946 in Ottumwa. They became the parents of one son, David. John was a partner with Lyle Smith in the Tremmel and Smith Auction Co. for twenty-seven years. He also worked for Neece Feed Service for 15 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the V.F.W. and American Legion, as well as the Iowa and National Auctioneers Associations.

Survivors include his wife, Marie, his son and his wife, David and Nancy Tremmel, and two granddaughters and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Services were May 31 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney with Msgr. Edward Greer officiating. Military services were by Sigourney V.F.W. and American Legion. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sigourney.
