Hercules S. "Toby" Davis H ,88, passed away on Saturday morning January 30, at the Keokuk county hospital. He had entered the hospital the previous day.

He was born April 22, 1882, the son of Martin and Margaret Frey Davis in Keokuk County. He had lived all his life time on farms in Keokuk county until later years he had moved into Sigourney. He had lived at the home of Mrs. George Coon and for the past several years have been a resident of the Bales guest home.

He was the last survivor member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charlie and James and two sisters, Mrs Margaret Stokesberry and Ruth.

Survivors include nieces and nephew's; Mr. and Mrs. Harris Barnhart, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Barnhart, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Appleget, Mr and Mrs. LeRoy Kracht and Mr. and Mrs. Don Barnhart. He was a faithful member of the IOOF Lodge number 98 and Rebecca Lodge number 2562 in Sigourney.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 2, at 1:30 PM at the Runnels funeral Chapel with the Reverend Lenard Leslie and the Sigourney lodge in charge. Mrs. Charles Phelps was the organist. Intern was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lloyd Bruns, Ward Flanigan, Vern Sherwood, Bud Walleric, Harry White and John Wilkening.
