Mrs. Merle (Marjorie) Taylor, 68, died Oct. 11, 1980 at her home at Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

She was born Oct. 10, 1912 at Sigourney, the daughter of Harry C. and Millie J. Eastburn Horras. She graduated from Sigourney high school in 1929. She was a member and past president of Delta Chi chapter of Phi Tau Omega Sorority and a former member of the Wate-A-Bit Club at Sigourney. She attended the Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church at Fort Myers Beach. She was employed as a secretary to a lawyer in Sigourney, worked in Des Moines for 20 years with several government agencies and moved to Granite City, Illinois, finishing her career with the Department of the Army. She retired in 1962 to St. Louis then moved to Fort Myers Beach in 1973.

She married Merle Taylor Jan. 22, 1957 at Neligh, Nebraska and he survives. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Rita E. Taylor and Sheryl D. Taylor; a sister, Letha Culp and a brother, Gerald (Bud) Horras.

Services were held Oct. 15 at Holm Funeral Home with the Rev. John McElroy, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial is at Pleasant Grove cemetery.
