Floy Gertrude Taylor, 82, of Delta died unexpectedly at her home April 6, 1984.

She was born March 29, 1902 at Delta, the daughter of Harry Ellsworth and Susie C. Dickson.

On Feb. 17, 1921 she married Ottis Taylor at Oskaloosa. He died in May 1972.

A graduate of Delta high school with the class of 1919, she attended Iowa State College. Member of Delta Christian church since 1915, was a member of Warren Chapter, O.E.S., lifetime member of National Holstein Association, longtime Farm Bureau member and many years active in early county Farm Bureau women’s work. Former county 4-H committee member and at one time served as committee chairman. From 1952 to 1968, the Taylor’s were Dairy Herd Improvement Association supervisors in Scott and Muscatine counties. Also she was active in the formation of the Keokuk County Historical Society, where she was a lifetime member.

She had always lived on the family farm, northwest of Delta, where she could enjoy her love of the outdoors, the farm and the lineage of Holstein cattle. She had these interest plus history associated with family, the community, the county, and many other areas of interest in State and National events.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Taylor; a daughter, Mrs. James (Hilda) Souer; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Services were held April 9, at the Delta Christian church with Rev. George Mullins officiating. Burial was in Springfield cemetery, northwest of Delta.
