Ferne Eloise Martin, 69, of Sigourney, died June 19, 1988, at the Sigourney Care Center where she had resided since 1984.

She was born March 28, 1919 in Wapello county, north of Ottumwa to Charles O. and Goldie Jacobs Priest.

After graduation from Sigourney high school, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught at various rural schools in Keokuk County and worked in the office of the Keokuk County Hospital from 1968 to 1982. She was a member of the Christian Church.

On Sept. 28, 1940, she was married to Forrest Martin in Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her husband, Forrest; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Bundy; two sons, Roger and Randy Martin; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Martin and Mrs. Claudine Crouse. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services are being held at the Sigourney Christian church. Burial in Mt. Zion cemetery, north of Martinsburg.
