Mrs. Wayne (Lavetta) Keller, 67, of rural Sigourney died Jan. 27, 1984 at Keokuk county hospital.

She was born July 17, 1916 at Hayesville to Dick and Goldie Walker Kleinschmidt. She married Melvin Swearingen in 1938 and he was killed in World War II. On June 13, 1945 she married Wayne Keller.

A graduate of Sigourney High School, she taught school in Keokuk County, was employed at the Sigourney Produce and was a well known seamstress. She was a member of Garden Club, Craft Club and Union Hall Hustlers Club.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; three sons, Peter Swearingen, David Wayne Keller and Dennis Keller; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Vicky) Thomas and Patricia Keller; two step daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Marietta) Cook and Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Sojka; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Bill (Evelyn) McNurlen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin; a brother, Leland Dwight Kleinschmidt and a sister, Ailene Kleinschmidt.

Services were Jan. 30 at the Hayesville Community church the Rev. Gary Dobbins, of the United Methodist church in Sigourney, officiated. Burial was in the Garrett cemetery north of Delta.
