John W. Jones, 68, of 184 E. Rochester, Ottumwa, died Jan. 16, 1984, at Ottumwa hospital.

He was born May 2, 1915 near What Cheer to Alex and Clara Axmear Jones. He married Winnifred Neal Nov. 29, 1939 at Chillicothe.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Nancy Kimmel; two sons, Richard and Rex; a sister, Ada Smith and a brother George. Also 10 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and two step great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul.

Services were held Jan. 18, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles T. Rinkel officiating. Burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa.
