Mrs. Alex (Fern E.) Johnson, 82, of Gibson died July 8, 1980 at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born August 25, 1897, in Gibson to Joseph and Bettie Bittinger Eyler.

She had been a Gibson area resident since 1938 and formerly lived in Tipton.

She married Alex O. Johnson March 7, 1923, in Marengo.

She was a member of Thornburg Garden Club and Gibson Ladies Aid.

Surviving is her husband.

Services were held July 10 at Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with Rev. John DeBoef officiating.

Burial was in Sixteen Cemetery.
