Carole Leigh Holm, 49, of Sigourney, died of cancer March 20,1984 at the Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney.

She was born August 25, 1934, at Lacey, the daughter of Max and Lyda Sheffer Leanhart.

She graduated from Cedar High School in 1951.

On July 11, 1952, she married Larry Holm in Oskaloosa.

She worked as a telephone operator in Oskaloosa, St. Louis, Mo., and Sigourney. In 1959, she and her husband moved to Sigourney, where they operated the Holm Funeral Home.

She was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church of Sigourney, the Rebekah Lodge and the Sigourney Women’s Club. She was a former member of the Women’s Bowling Association.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; a daughter, Mrs. John (Leigh) Waechter of Cedar Rapids; a son, Martin Jeffrey Holm; a granddaughter; her mother and stepfather, Lyda and Gerald Rouw; her grandmother, Josie McCurdy; two brothers, Rex and Ted Leanhart; a sister, Donna Ogle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services were held March 23, at the Presbyterian Church with Monsignor Edward Greer of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.

Burial was at the Bethel cemetery, east of Sigourney.
