Eric A. "Swede" Dahlstrom, 56, of Martinsburg died the morning of March 14, 1985, at Ottumwa Hospital.

He was born October 1, 1928, at Martinsburg to Arthur E. and Gladys Marie Sanchez Dahlstrom. He married Phyllis Davis on January 13, 1949, in Yuma, Arizona. He was a 1946 graduate of Martinsburg High School and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Martinsburg United Methodist Church, American Legion Arendt-Bolin-Stubbs Post 83 of Hedrick, International Order of the Hoo Hoo Lumber Club, Shriners Club, Martinsburg Masonic Lodge 106, and Order of Eastern Star. He was a past member of the Elks and past president of the Pekin Sports Boosters Club. He was acting mayor of Martinsburg and owner-operator of Big D Lumber Co. of Hedrick.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Martinsburg; six sons, Eric Arden, Shawn Robin, Shane Lars, Shad Knute, Sage Davis and Sven Eric; and a daughter, Erika Dawn Hendrickson; a brother, Knute Dahlstrom; a sister, Teresa Ternes; and his mother, Gladys Marie Sanchez Dahlstrom.

The service was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Martinsburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Ellis and Rev. Melvin Reth officiated the service. The Eulogy was given by George Hendrickson.

Burial was at Mount Zion cemetery.
