Harold A. Sutton dies at 79

RICHLAND - Harold A. Sutton, 79, Richland, died Friday at Jefferson County Hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 23, 1987.

Sutton was born April 10, 1979(1908), in Martinsburg to William and Nora Spiers Sutton. He married Lena Chacey Feb. 12, 1930. She survives.

Other survivors are two daughters, Alma Catcott of Richland and Alta Dickey of Packwood; one son, Dwain Sutton of Seneca, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville and Merl Sutton, both of Hedrick; and one sister, Lola Sutton of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by a sister Vera Davis.

Sutton was a 1926 graduate of Martinsburg High School lived in the Packwood area for 35 years before moving to Richland in 1968. he was a member of the Richland United Methodist Church.

The funeral service tentatively has been set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Richland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg.

Friends may call at their convenience beginning at noon Sunday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer or Heart Fund.
