Taken In Death

Cloyce C. Cummings, 61, 57 1/2 E. Broadway, died at 3:10 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital. He had been a patient there since Dec. 18.

Cummings was grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, Domain of Iowa. He had been a resident of Fairfield for 35 years.

Funeral services fill(?) be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian church in charge of the Rev. J. Roland Crandall and the Rev. Lee E. Davis. The body will be taken from the Raymond funeral home to the church at noon. Burial will be in Brooks cemetery near Hedrick.

Cummings was employed at the Fairfield Gamble's store. He was born Dec. 16, 1901 near Ainsworth, the son of Harvey and Barbara Ogier Cummings. He was reared and educated in the Packwood area. He was a member of the Pekin Methodist church.

Cummings is survived by one sister, Ila Cummings, Fairfield. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.

Cummings had been active in the Knights of Pythias since joining the local Forest City Lodge No. 37 in 1942. He served as chancellor of the local lodge on three occasions. He held a number of district and state offices, including district deputy grand chancellor, grant prelate and grand vice chancellor.

He was president of the Pythian Benefit association and a member of Pythian Sisters Temple No. 156.

Cummins was installed as the Knights of Pythias grand chancellor last September following his election at the state convention in Cedar Rapids.
