Delmar Rose, 81, of Sigourney died Feb. 5, 2002 at Sigourney Care Center.

He was born March 25, 1920, near Tioga in Mahaska County to Nettie Rose. He married Helen Juanita Moore Jan. 29, 1939, in Ottumwa. She died March 22, 2001.

He attended Taylor Country School. They lived and farmed in the Delta and Martinsburg area and moved to Sigourney in 1992. He ran a livestock and grain truck for 52 years. He was a charter member of the Poppin' Johnnies.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Seaba and Marilyn Walsh; a son, Jim; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and sisters Mary Jane Goll and Treva McBeth.

He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather, Guy Silvers; two infant children, Eleanor and Steven; a grandson; and a sister, Ruth Ludwick.

Services were Feb. 9 in Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney with the Rev. Vince Homan officiating. Burial was in Garrett Cemetery near Delta.
