Viola Waechter, 76, of Sigourney, died, Dec. 4, at her home in rural Sigourney. Her funeral service was Dec. 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney, the Rev. Philip Ryan officiating. Burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney.

Viola Waechter was born May 27, 1924, in Keokuk County, to Bernerd L. and Anna Bruns Neal. She attended Newkirk School in rural Sigourney Township and was graduated from Sigourney High School in 1941. She taught rural school in Keokuk County for two terms.

On April 22, 1944, she married Floyd Mathais Waechter at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Keswick. He died May 17, 1984: They farmed in Sigourney Township southwest of Sigourney.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Palmer; three sons, David, Marvin and Ronald; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
