Virginia Roquet, 77, of rural Hedrick, died Nov. 16, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

She was born July 3, 1928, in Rose Hill the daughter of Raymond Samuel and Iva Marie Wells Catcott. She was raised in the Hedrick and Fremont area and graduated from Hedrick High School in 1945. Following graduation, she was employed at Holt's Drug and Novelty Store in Oskaloosa. She was united in marriage to Harold Ivan Roquet on Aug. 15, 1946 at the Union Chapel Christian Union Church near Fremont. Following their marriage they established their home on the family farm. She enjoyed flowers and working for her church. She was a member of the Union Chapel Christian Union Church, the Homemaker's Club and had served as president of the C.U.W.F. on national, state and local levels. She was a member of the Hedrick Band Boosters. She loved playing the piano.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Ivan; a daughter, Leann Sue Little; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step grandchildren; a brother, Bill; a sister, Nancy Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19 at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Hearold McElwee and the Rev. Floyd Cooper officiating. Burial was in Abel cemetery near Fremont.
