Death Takes Clarence Book

RICHLAND - Clarence Book, 75, died unexpectedly at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Linby. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland with the Rev. Georg Nehf officiating. Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery.

Clarence Book was born Feb. 2, 1898, in Illinois, and moved to Fulton, Mo., with his family when still quite young. The family moved to Iowa in 1911.

He was married to Lucy Frances Clingman, Packwood, April 15, 1919, and they have lived on their present farm for the past 28 years.

In addition to his wife, Book is survived by five daughters and one son: Mrs. Thelma Hadley, Ollie; Mrs. Ina Sasseen, Packwood; Mrs. Audrey Hill, Hedrick; Mrs. Helen Tarrence, Olds; Mrs. LaVon Tuttle, Medford, Ore., and Kay Book, Packwood.

Other survivors include 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Asa Book, Lake Placid, Fla., and Harlan Book, Wichita, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one daughter in infancy.
