Jones Rites On Friday

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. for Luella Jones, 89, who died Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital.

The services will be at the Friends Church with the Rev. Dan Lemmons officiating. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery at Richland.

The casket will be taken from the Raymond Funeral Home to the church at noon the day of the services.

Miss Jones had been a resident of the Fairfield Community since 1937 and spent most of her life caring for elderly people.

R. Luella Jones was born Dec. 2, 1883, in Keokuk County. She was the daughter of David H. and Rebecca E. Stewart Jones. She taught school in Iowa and Idaho for a number of years, and taught at the Hampton Institute in Virginia and the Calhoun School for Colored Children in Calhoun, Ala.

She also worked with the American Friends Service Committee in the south and schools in Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Friends Church in Fairfield.

Miss Jones is survived by a half-brother, Albert Jones, Fairfield. She was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and three half-brothers.
