Hubert Dewayne Christner, 76, of Hayesville, died Dec. 17 at University Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born Aug. 11, 1929 to Ezra and Blanche Houston Christner near Brighton. He attended Hall Country School near Lancaster.

On June 21, 1951 he married Beverly Ann Northup,at the Methodist Church in Ollie. He served September 1951 to August 1952 in the United Sates Army during the Korean Conflict.

They lived and farmed near Lancaster and Sigourney, then settled and farmed west of Hayesville. He was a member of the N.F.O., Leo Farmer American Legion Post No. 19, served as a councilman in Hayesville and on the Union Hall school board. He coached Little League baseball for many years. He loved to watch his children
and grandchildren in all their activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Koth and Ruby Rockhill.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Pamela (John) Yoder, son MichaeL (Camilla) Christner; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Schaffer, Maxine Carris, Freda Quick; two brothers, Forrest Christner and Marvin Christner.

Services were held Dec. 21, at Prairie View Methodist Church near Ollie with Rev. Shirley Will officiating. Burial was in Ollie cemetery.
