Jeffrey John Bates, 37, of Sigourney died at his home.

Jeffrey, the son of Ned Bates and Janice White Bates, was born May 15, 1955 in Oskaloosa.

He attended Tri-County School and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for electronics.

He is survived by his father, Ned Bates; his mother, Janice Bates; two brothers, Steven Ryan Bates and Ted A. Bates; two sisters, Susan Renee Bates and Sally McLaughlin; one niece; and five nephews.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 7, at the Marengo Cemetery in Marengo, with Pastor Frances Baumert officiating.
