Though it says that Julia was "widowed" in the 1910-1920 census and looks like Henry was still alive, this was not uncommon practice for women back in those day to say that when in fact they were divorced. Divorce was taboo back then.

They may have been separated for some time why it still shows married in 1880 and 1900 but eventually divorced and he remarried while she stayed single until her death. Also looks like she only had the one child.. Jennie so a second child scenario causing the breakup doesn't look to be the cause of separation but possibly the first child?
